IDIA REPORT CNLU, PATNA
IDIA is a venture started by the National University of Judicial Sciences, Kolkata in order to help the poor section to turn up in the field of law and amplify its prospects further. There is a huge pool of students working in the promotion of the students who are capable enough to come in mainstream legal field but cannot afford its expenses.
We, at Chanakya National Law University established a sub-set of IDIA in the month of October with utmost enthusiasm and conducted various workshops in order to acquaint the people in the college about this new venture. We visited various schools in the month of November and conducted exams in Patna Collegiate School in order to assess the proximity of the students who will be able to sustain the training process and give good results. We have henceforth attached the pictures of the test that we conducted.
We held an advertisement stall in the Bihar Education Fair, 2010 in order to make IDIA reach the commoners and help people who need it most. We explained about our venture to a huge ambit of students and handed out many pamphlets regarding IDIA. It was a two-day fair and was an enthralling experience for all students who took part in it.
Subsequently, students started arriving to become a part and the teaching group started taking classes for various subjects for the preparation for CLAT entrance exam. We have 8 students as of now. We went to Bankipore Girls High School, met the principal but could not congregate a good response as it was festive season and they did not seem willing.
A bank account in the name of IDIA has been opened in State Bank of India and initiations were made with the objective of raising funds. We visited Mr. Baleshwar Prasad Sharma, Chairman, and State Bar Council for funds. On 24th December, our venture has been given some space in the Bar Council Bihar Journal. Mr. S.P. Mukherjee, Senior Lawyer, Patna High Court honoured us with an amount of Rs. 1000 which has been added to the IDIA fund. Mr. Prem Kumar Jha, Member, State Bar Council, has provided us with positive response with respect to allotment of funds. We have taken appointments from various lawyers in the High Court and even the HRD minister has agreed to talk on this matter.
Advertisement clips were published in various newspapers including Hindustan Times on 6th November, 2010 and Times of India on 1st December, 2010. Various publishing houses and channels have agreed to give our venture the necessary push, for example, ARYA, News 24, Maurya News etc. We have invited Maurya News to make a short film on IDIA(Patna Chapter) manifesting its objectives based on the talks with the IDIA volunteers, its team leader and the students who are undergoing coaching at CNLU through this initiative. They have assured us with a tentative date of 4 April 2011.
We are in regular talk with the local IMS centre regarding the All India Test going to be conducted on the 1st week of April for providing the free crash course training to the students who were selected through the sensitization program at various schools conducted by our volunteers, and whose parent’s (combined) income is less than Rs 25000 a month.
Presently the teaching team of IDIA Patna is taking the classes to the selected candidates at the university campus itself. We are taking 6 classes in a week covering all the subjects (English, Legal Aptitude, General Knowledge, Maths, Logical Reasoning, Personality development class) on every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:30pm. to 4:30pm.. We are highly thankful to our University administration which is very much supportive regarding the availability of classrooms, stationeries , electric facilities etc which strengthens the zeal of the initiative.
Thank you all for the continuous support.
