Vishwam Prakash is a scholar with a diverse academic and professional background, with research and teaching interests that engage closely with questions at the intersection of law, society, and philosophy. His work reflects an engagement with contemporary legal challenges—particularly those arising from changing labour relations, constitutional governance, and evolving social realities—while also drawing on wider intellectual traditions such as Indology and philosophy.
Qualification
He holds an LL.M. degree from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, and a B.A. LL.B. degree from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), Delhi. He is also NET qualified.
Teaching / Research Experience
He has taught core undergraduate subjects including Labour Laws, Legal Methods, and Jurisprudence, and has taught Pluralism and Federalism at the LL.M. level. His research experience includes work on labour and contemporary political economy, including his LL.M. dissertation titled “Predatory Capitalism: A Structural Analysis of the Gig Economy in Conflict with Labor Rights,” which examined structural features of the gig economy and their implications for labour rights. He was also part of a committee that consulted the Department of Industry, Government of Bihar, in connection with drafting the Jan Vishwas Bill.

Vishwam Prakash’s research interests lie at the intersection of law, society, and philosophy. His core interests are Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Environmental Laws, and Criminology. He has also maintained sustained interest in the legal and social conditions of labour in the contemporary economy, including the experience of gig workers. Beyond legal scholarship, his interests in Indology and philosophy inform and enrich his academic approach.
Publications
He has written on themes including dissent, criminal law, labour, and social justice. His publications include “Sedition in Times of Dissent” and a book chapter on the role of waste workers in the circular economy. He has also authored papers on topics such as sedition and women’s entry to religious places.

His academic profile has been strengthened by a range of practical legal experiences, such as working at the Alternative Law Forum, experience with the office of the Additional Solicitor General. He has experience working with a Judge of the Patna High Court and with the Bihar Legal Services Authority, contributing to his understanding of legal institutions and public justice systems. In addition, he was part of a committee that consulted the Department of Industry, Government of Bihar, in the process of drafting the Jan Vishwas Bill, where he contributed to policy-oriented legal deliberations and the refinement of statutory proposals aimed at improving regulatory frameworks.
